Alentejo receives 8 distinctions at the 2020 Grandes Escolhas Awards
The Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Program (WASP) received yet another award, after Revista de Vinhos, it was the turn of VINHO Grandes Escolhas Magazine to award WASP with the Iniciative Award.
The Alentejo region did not stop there and also took home the Winemaker Prize that ended up at the hands of Pedro Baptista, from the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation (Adega Cartuxa and Tapada do Chaves), in addition to the Company Award given to Casa Relvas.
Alentejo wines also placed some examples among the Best Wines of the Year: Cortes de Cima Reg. Alentejano Reserva red 2014, Estremus Reg. Alentejano red 2015, Gloria Reynolds Cathedral Reg. Alentejano red 2004, Scala Coeli Reg. Alentejano Alicante Bouschet red 2016 and Tapada de Coelheiros Reg. Alentejano Garrafeira red 2012.
For Francisco Mateus, president of CVRA, “the quantity and diversity of awards that the Alentejo region has won shows the capacity for innovation, dedication, the quality of our wines and how we produce them. I want to congratulate those who have been awarded and are very proud of the Alentejo, in addition to underlining our commitment to highlight the region nationally and internationally ”.
The 2020 Grandes Escolhas Awards event took place last Friday, February 14, at the Velódromo de Sangalhos, with the presence of more than a thousand people who attended the delivery of the various awards related to the wine sector.
