Alentejo wines highlighted in El Corte Inglés as an example of sustainability in the Iberian Peninsula
The Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Program (WASP) is already a reference when it comes to good agricultural practices and, recognizing the excellence of this pioneering initiative in the country, El Corte Inglés challenged Francisco Mateus, president of the Alentejo Regional Wine Commission (CVRA) and João Barroso, PSVA coordinator, participating in the session “The Future begins today”, which took place on October 11th, at 6 pm. The session is part of the VIII session of the Iberian Flavors and Palates Cycle and took place in the Cultural Scope Room, on Floor 6 of El Corte Inglés in Lisbon.
To date, 647 producers have joined PSVA, which corresponds to more than half of the Alentejo vineyard area, of which 19 producers already have Sustainable Production certification.
Remember that PSVA has already been honored with numerous international awards, from “The Drinks Business Green Awards”; the European Business Promotion Awards, an initiative of the European Commission and coordinated, in Portugal, by IAPMEI; the title of European Ambassador for Rural Innovation for the LIAISON project, a European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability also launched by the European Commission; and also with the “Sustainability Initiative Award” by Delloitte Portugal.
