"Best Mediterranean Restaurant 2016"
The Alentejo Regional Winegrowing Comission and Olive Oil House announced the winners of the "Best Mediterranean Restaurant 2016".
Winners:
Excelence / Gold Diploma - À Terra (Vila Monte Farm House)
Gold Diploma - 5 Amêndoas Restaurante (Évora)
Silver Diploma - Restaurante Antiqvvm (Porto) and Restaurante Cimas (Estoril)
Bronze Diploma - Restaurante Hotel Albatroz (Cascais) and Dom Joaquim (Évora)
This initiative has the main purpose of promoting the Mediterranean diet as an art of living. These two entities challenged the country´s restaurants compete for the title of "Best Mediterranean Restaurant 20161" by presenting their best recipes based on this type of diet.
The winners were selected from a group of finalists who were visited by the jury, in the form of anonymity in order to assess the quality of the prepared menu (starter, main course and dessert), the service and the ability to inform customers about the products of the partners involved and the main concepts and benefits of the Mediterranean diet.
One of the tender evaluation criteria was that the tasting menu matched wines and olive oil in dishes that meet the parameters set in the Mediterranean diet. The contest was open to restaurants nationwide.
The announcement of the winners of "Best Mediterranean Restaurant 2016" was held in a public ceremony included in the program of the "Great Mediterranean Tasting - Olive Oils and Wines from Alentejo."
