The event “Duets: Wines and Delicassis from Alentejo” kicks off this Thursday, October 15th, at 12:30 pm, with the first of three showcookings to be held from the Instagram of “Vinhos do Alentejo”.
Chef Jorge Peças will be chatting with João Barroso, coordinator of the Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Program (WASP), while making the best flavors to marry the region's typical wines. The initiative, presented by José Pedro Vasconcelos and authored by the Alentejo Regional Winegrowing Commission (CVRA), begins with the preparation of a dish made with local and seasonal foods by chef Jorge Peças, known for the gastronomic experiences he provides to all visiting the emblematic Convento do Espinheiro, in Évora.
The typical Alentejo dish will be accompanied by a wine from Herdade dos Grous. During the preparation of the menu, issues such as the importance of environmental, economic and social sustainability in the Portuguese wine sector, the actions implemented under the PSVA initiative or its impacts on the notoriety of Alentejo wines will also be on the table.
During the live broadcast, a raffle for two nights for two people at Casa do Escritor will also be announced, with a wine tasting at Herdade do Freixo, a meal at Café Alentejo and a second wine tasting. of six distinct brands, on the Alentejo Wine Route.
The event seeks, with this initiative, to help local members to come together in a time of pandemic and uncertainty. CVRA believes that the draw can make known an Alentejo that “is right next door and has enormous potential to be visited”, concludes Francisco Mateus.
