Harvesting begins. Alentejo is the only portuguese wine region that escapes production losses

At various rates, with some of the harvests already underway and others waiting for the final growth of the berries, the associations representing producers in the various regions of the country reveal declines in production. Compared to 2019, only the Alentejo region escapes a drop in the amount of grapes produced.

Francisco Mateus, the president of the Alentejo Regional Winegrowing Commission, says that he expects an increase in this harvest. "5% more than last year. Something around 105 million liters", guarantees the responsible. A trend, which, he says, is contrary to that of the rest of the country, as it has been in recent years.
