This Friday Alentejo elects the best wines in the region
An annual competition organized by the Confraria dos Enófilos do Alentejo, supported by the CVRA, highlights the excellence of more than a hundred wines produced in the region.

The Confraria dos Enófilos do Alentejo (CEA) invites the V/Organ de Comunicação Social to participate in the prize-giving ceremony of the 10th edition of the Contest Melhores Vinhos do Alentejo 2023, which will take place this Friday, May 5th. The event will take place at 8 pm at Casa do Alentejo (Rua das Portas de Santo Antão 58, 1150-268), in Lisbon.

From 20:00, the institution, supported by the Alentejo Regional Wine Commission (CVRA), will award a gold, silver and bronze medal for each of the categories of white, red and rosé wine, as well as honorable mentions to the other wines. who distinguished themselves in this edition.

This is already the 10th edition, with the highest number of wines in competition ever, in a demonstration of the vitality of the producers of the Alentejo region. The winners, who will be known during the dinner that accompanies the awards ceremony, were evaluated by 25 judges, who tasted and classified 136 wine references from 51 producers from all areas and subregions of Alentejo wineries.

"This event is a unique opportunity to highlight Alentejo wine producers and for them to demonstrate their talent and dedication in producing quality wines. of our wines at national and international level." emphasizes Francisco Mateus, president of the CVRA.

Regarding the contest “Melhores Vinhos do Alentejo 2023”, which already has 10 editions, Pedro Luiz de Castro, Juiz da Mesa (the equivalent of President of the Board) of CEA, mentions that “the Confraria has been rewarding the extraordinary wine productions Alentejanas, seeking to reward the hard work of the producers and, of course, to promote the Alentejo, our region, our culture, our winemakers and producers and make known the quality of the wine that is produced here”.

CEA, whose symbols are the traditional Capote Alentejano, with the brim hat, as well as the insignia, emblem and banner, has played a fundamental role in the dissemination of the vineyard and wine of the region, namely in the historical, cultural, economic and social.

It should also be remembered that the Confraria has been organizing various wine tasting courses, visits to wine regions, both national and foreign, the annual competition for the “Best Wines of Alentejo”, and also thematic meetings on the vineyard and of the wine.
