Évora Wine grand return scheduled to 19 and 20 May

Praça do Giraldo will host more than 250 references from 40 producers from all over the Alentejo.

The biggest wine event in Alentejo is back and full of news. The 8th edition of Évora Wine will take place on the 19th and 20th of May, at Praça do Giraldo, in Évora, and will bring together wine, snacks, Alentejo culture and tourism in what is once again a very popular edition with 250 wines in tasting of 40 producers from the upper and lower Alentejo.

The organization estimates to receive about 8 thousand visitors in the two days in which the event takes place. The 8th edition of the biggest wine event in Alentejo has the partnership and support of Turismo do Alentejo, the Alentejo Regional Wine Commission (CVRA) and Évora City Council. Taking place in the Alentejo capital, Évora Wine aims to make known the diversity of the entire region.

“Évora Wine is very important for the wine, gastronomy and tourism sector in Alentejo. It is, in fact, one of the most important tools to bring national and international tourists to Alentejo. This is the only Alentejo wine event with this dimension and concept that allows producers to contact national and foreign consumers in a festive and relaxed environment.” points out Reto Frank Jorg, organizer of the event.

Francisco Mateus, president of the CVRA, adds that “this event unites wine, gastronomy and tourism, thus being an excellent combination to promote the Alentejo region. Year after year, Évora Wine has been growing and showing its ability to involve companies, boost tourist activity and showcase Alentejo wines and flavors. It is due to the quality and dynamics that the organization has been able to affirm that the CVRA supports this great event”. Vítor Silva, President of the Alentejo and Ribatejo Regional Tourism Entity concludes that “wine is an unavoidable and attractive topic, which is why it is, without a doubt, one of the main anchors of our tourist offer.

Évora Wine has fulfilled this role perfectly. Thus, it is with great pleasure that we are associated with another edition of Évora Wine, which will certainly fill Praça do Giraldo”. Participation in the event is free and wine and region lovers who wish to taste the hundreds of nectars available can purchase a glass, with a support bag, for the amount of 10 euros.

This event also has a solidarity character and aims to help the associations Chão dos Meninos and Pão e Paz and, during the two days of the event, the Association “Um dia pela Vida” will be represented in the Square. Remember that Évora Wine first appeared in 2014 with the aim of making known the best that the Alentejo has to offer – from quality wine, to gastronomy, tourism, culture.

This year, the organization distinguished itself by promoting various initiatives, from the award ceremony of the “Best Wines of Alentejo” contest, on May 5; to Alqueva Sunset, scheduled for May 20; to the World Congress of Bacchic Confraternities, on June 1st; and also the Wine Day at Feira São João scheduled for June 30th.
