Wines of Alentejo in Hamburg
Eight Alentejo wine producers were in Hamburg yesterday in order to strengthen their presence in this important European market.
The event was organized by ViniPortugal and was attended by hundreds of people, including several importers, journalists and opinion makers. The region of Alentejo was in great prominence, being the most represented region with nine stands in total.
In addition to the CVRA counter where the german sommelier Lucas Fordinal conducted the Alentejo Wine tasting, there were: CARMIM, Cartuxa - Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, Casa Agrícola HMR, Casa Agrícola Santos Jorge, Herdade dos Lagos, Monte do Álamo, Nunes Barata Wines and Ribafreixo Wines.
Along with the wine tastings and networking, several thematic seminars were held on each of the Portuguese regions. Master Sommelier and specialist in portuguese wine Hendrik Thoma was the speaker in the two seminars on the Alentejo region, presenting its grapes, terroirs and wines with detail and enthusiasm, fueling the interest of the two crowded audiences. The main theme of Hendrik Thoma's lectures was "Surprising whites and powerful reds - Discoveries from Alentejo".
