Wines of Alentejo returned to Lisbon with novelties for the spring!
The Alentejo Regional Winegrowing Commission organized the 11th edition of "Wines of Alentejo in Lisbon", and showed a series of new harvests from the producers. For the first time in 11 years, the event was organized in April.
With this change, the Wines of Alentejo intended to stand out from the other wine events at national level that ended up concentrating all over the months of October and November.
During the 5th and 6th of April a total of 74 producers were present in Lisbon, at CCB - Centro Cultural de Belém, with more than 400 wines available for tasting.
In this eleventh edition, the electronic record of the proven wines was kept for those consumers who wanted to receive more information about them. This registration was done through a chip placed in the glasses. As a novelty, this year it was still possible to buy and order wines at the event.
As in previous editions, the CVR Alentejana organized expert-guided wine tastings, Storytelling sessions, gastronomic harmonization and musical entertainment on the last day with Cante Alentejano.
There were also two new spaces - the "Cantinho da Sustentabilidade", dedicated to children, which was a playful and educational place, where the youngest could learn a set of sustainable tips that growers use in the vineyards, being able to paint boxes of bats that are used as a way to fight pests as an alternative to the use of chemicals.
In parallel, "Alentejo' corner" was present at the gastronomic level - Sabores do Alentejo and Alecrim Restaurant - and a brand of traditional Alentejo capote - Capote's Emotion was also present.
Similarly to what happened in previous editions, the CVRA allocated a percentage of the value of the entries to anenvironmental organization - Plant a Tree Association in the partnership "A glass of Alentejo, a tree."
