Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Plan awarded "Outstanding Investment" prize

Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Plan received a "Brand Investment" prize awarded by Vida Rural magazine at the close of the AgroIN Congress.

AgroIN Congress 2018 organized by the journal Vida Rural discussed Sustainability in agriculture with the motto
"Eco innovar - Sustainability as an opportunity".

The Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Plan (WASP) was honored as "Outstanding Investment" the 2018 Rural Life Awards. The winners were known at the AgroIN Congress held at the Estoril Congress Center.

The WASP is a pioneering program in Portugal and Europe, led by the Alentejo Regional Wine Commission (CVRA), with the aim of improving the practices used in vineyards and wineries, reducing costs and waste, protecting the environment and improving the well society. Started in 2014, it has 152 members representing 23% of the area of ​​vines and 58% of the wine production of the Alentejo wine region.

Francisco Mateus, president of the CVRA, comments "with great pride that we see year after year the growth of the number of adherents and the results achieved by the implementation of good practices, for which he contributes to exemplary dedication in the manager of the PSVA, Eng. João Barroso. About the award he received, "gratitude to Vida Rural magazine, because it looked at what we are doing, for the efforts of winemakers and wineries in Alentejo, from the largest to the smallest, and concluded that it is an" investment that marks "in the panorama of agriculture and rural development in Portugal ".


Alentejo agriculture has won the five Rural Life Awards 2018:

- "Farmer who marks", Alfredo Cunhal Sendim, from the Herdade do Freixo do Meio, Montemor-o-Novo;
- "Agricultural company that marks", Esporão Vinhos, SA, Reguengos de Monsaraz (member of PSVA);
- "Investment that marks", Sustainability Plan for Alentejo Wines (CVRA);
- "R & D marking"; Sparkle Project: Sustainable Precision Agriculture with involvement from the University of Évora;
- "Association of Producers who mark", APOSOLO - Portuguese Association for the Mobilization of Soil Conservation (Évora)
