The Wines of Alentejo held, for the 11th consecutive year, a wine tasting in Luanda. This year complemented by two trainings for hotel and distribution. Angola is the largest import market, in value, of Alentejo wines with more than 14 million dollars of bottled wines imported in 2017.
Some of the best Alentejo labels were tasted by more than 650 people from Angolan society, according to Tiago Caravana, responsible for the Angolan market of the CVRA, the event was a success:
"The success of our annual event is due to the commitment of this region in producing wines to the Angolan market. The Angolan consumer tends to appreciate and order more and more Wines of Alentejo, and last year saw a growth in the sale of wines of higher ranges "
Prior to the annual competition, the CVRA sought to leave a pedagogical mark in Angola and for several years they have been conducting courses led by Luís Lopes, a respected wine critic in Portugal. During the training, some references of excellence of the region were tried, so that the trainees can experiment and differentiate the peculiarities of the Wines of Alentejo. The training took place on 27 February with the EPIC Sana Food & Beverage team and on 28 February with the Kero hypermarket.
