Wines of Alentejo will plant 1200 trees to reforest burnt area
The Alentejo Regional Winegrowing Commission (CVRA) and the Plantar Uma Árvore (Plant a Tree) Association will plant 1,200 trees in the Alentejo to help reforest the area burned in the region in 2019.
CVRA recalls that until 30 September this year, 893 rural fires in the Alentejo region resulted in 5,000 hectares of burned area and therefore aims to "minimize the impact" of the fires through a reforestation initiative that includes two regions: Vidigueira. and Montemor-o-Novo.
Under the policy of theWines of Alentejo Sustainability Program, and in order to minimize the impact of this tragedy, CVRA has donated to the association Plantar Uma Árvore a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of the Wines of Alentejo event tickets in Lisbon, held in April this year and in 2018 at the CCB.
In parallel, there will be a brief review of CVRA's Sustainability Program.
