The winners of the 13th edition of the "European Awards for Business Promotion 2019" were known yesterday, 16th, in Matosinhos. Of the 19 winning projects, the Alentejo Wines sustainability program was the winner in the 5th category "Supporting the development of ecological markets and resource efficiency" among 70 candidates for the national phase. This category seeks to distinguish the best practices of promotion and entrepreneurship in Europe, by the specificity of their contribution to the economic development of the regions.
The European Entrepreneurship Awards 2019 are an initiative of the European Commission and are coordinated in Portugal by IAPMEI - Institute for Support to Small and Medium Enterprises and Innovation. The award of these awards aims to recognize and give visibility to successful projects and good practices that support and stimulate entrepreneurship at local, regional and national level.
The PSVA is a pioneer initiative in Portugal and promoted by the Alentejo Regional Wine Commission (CVRA), with the aim of improving the practices used in vineyards and wineries, producing grapes and wine of economically viable quality. This program was started in 2014 and has 339 members representing the wine production of the Alentejo wine region.
For Francisco Mateus, President of the CVRA "this award shows that we are making a difference in the wine sector. We are very proud to promote and contribute to the preservation of the environment and the conservation of the natural resources of the Alentejo region. The excellent results of this program, pioneer in Portugal, reveal the commitment and dedication of the producers. The prize is also an addition to our responsibility to do more and better and to encourage and motivate other producers to join us. "
