More than half a century in age (since 1960), Adega Cooperativa de Vidigueira, Cuba e Alvito, C.R.L. is the result of the dream and hard work of most of the grape growers of the regions of Vidigueira, Cuba and Alvito. Currently, this co-operative counts on more than 300 active members.
This “house” is daily searching out synergies that might weave together disparate lines in new and innovative ways. There is the “line” of the relatively flat Alentejo landscape that has continued through generations and draws on the Adega´s long experience. The “line” inspired by the maritime horizon of time gone by represents the search for discoveries and the conquest of the future: innovation and modernization. There is the “line” of traditional culture that reveals itself as you discover flavours and sensations – the wine – that is linked by people who, from days gone by until today, gather all these lines together in one sole “line”: that of the Adega.
The world is an ocean of opportunity but of challenges, as well: challenges that are global these days. Not only are we part of a national culture that is earning more and more renown as a producer of excellent wines, but we are also lucky enough to be located in a prime spot: not merely in the Alentejo but particularly in Vidigueira. Its deeply rooted winegrowing tradition is reflected in the town’s name – the name Vidigueira has its origin in the word “videira” (vine). Vidiguera is part of a global network that began with the discoveries. We have taken the concept of the discoveries to express the unique competitive advantage enjoyed by our winery which has set out to conquer the global market, based on the unequalled characteristics of our grape varieties.
Amongst the grapes collected at the Adega you’ll find the best indigenous grape varieties that have been cultivated for generations, including Antão Vaz, also known as the “Vidigueira grape variety”. This grape produces unique white wines and is likely the origin of the famous Alentejo´s white wines. It is our “muse”.
Adega is expanding on a journey that progressively unfolds in several stages that carries our wines on a voyage starting from our region, through culture and through history, taking consumers on an adventure to discover new territories of sensations by way of our wines.

Vidigueira Winelands
Adega Cooperativa de Vidigueira, Cuba e Alvito is a member of Vidigueira Winelands, an association and a brand that is born from the firm willingness of six of the region’s wine producers to create a joint project for the promotion of their products and their region, in order to increase their notoriety, both at a national and an international level.
