Adega Mayor

Adega Mayor is a dream come true for Commander Rui Nabeiro and was born of his twin passions, for wine and for his native land – Campo Maior.

It could only have been the renowned architect Siza Vieira who sketched out the unmistakeable lines of this winery that is at once refined, contemporary and spirited. Although it wasn’t inaugurated until 2007, Adega Mayor has been producing wines since 2002, from 65 hectares of vineyard spread over two estates that produce the grapes for the wines Monte Mayor, Touriga Nacional, Reserva do Comendador and Garrafeira do Comendador.

The team headed by winemaker Paulo Laureano is responsible for crafting these nectars with strong personalities that evoke both the tradition and the sophistication of an Alentejo that it’s worth getting to know better.
