In the municipality of Estremoz, in the district of Évora (Portugal), on a small hillside facing the castle and the city walls, you will find Quinta da Anta, home of the wine of the same name. The estate comprises 4 hectares of vineyard planted with Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each hectare corresponds to one grape variety.
Vines were planted in 2006 and gave rise to their first wine in 2007.
Quinta da Anta wine is not available in supermarkets. The small production of 2,500 bottles is distributed to gourmet and specialised wine shops directly by producer Amaro Camões, Unipessoal Lda.
The company is dedicated to producing a small quantity of quality product, a fact which allows for a careful selection of the best quality grapes and careful monitoring of the process. The remaining grapes are sold.
Quinta da Anta has been very well received by the consumers.
The 2009 harvest was released in November 2012 at the Borba wine festival and it was equally well received at the Estremoz food festival.
The wine rested in stainless steel vats, followed by bottle ageing.
The 2010 wine is scheduled for release in May or June 2013 after maturing in stainless steel vats, oak and finally in the bottle.
In order to craft the best wine, the final blend was made using the ideal proportion of each grape variety.
