Porta de Santa Catarina – Vinhos Unipessoal Lda. was founded in 2009 following the separation of Sociedade Agrícola Poeiras and Xarepe Lda. It is headquartered in the excellent winegrowing region of Estremoz and focuses exclusively on the production of high quality wines.
Porta de Santa Catarina produced its first wine in 2000, under the winemaking skills of José Poeiras, the managing partner. It is a small family business producing an average of 50,000 bottles of red wine and 10,000 bottles of white wine per year, using exclusively the grapes from their own vineyards. Eight hectares are planted with red varieties (Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon and Trincadeira) and 1 hectare with whites (Arinto and Antão Vaz).
Porta de Santa Catarina wines reflect the hard work and dedication of the team that crafts them year after year, both in the vineyard and in the winery. The winemaker constantly monitors the work, as each vineyard and each bottle is monitored individually to ensure excellence.
