Monte do Pintor
Monte do Pintor is a 200-hectare estate owned by Sociedade Agrícola da Sossega, Lda, a company set up in 1991 to produce and sell wines.
The estate encompasses 30 hectares of vineyards, whilst 80 are dedicated to cork oak and the rest to a variety of crops.
The vineyards are planted on gentle rolling hills, facing south, on soils that confer a distinctive terroir. Traditional Alentejo grape varieties predominate, including Trincadeira and Aragonez, as well as Castelão, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Caiada, Alicante and Moreto for reds and Verdelho, Arinto and Antão Vaz for whites.
The first wine was released in 1993. Two years later, a PGI wine under the label Monte do Pintor appeared on the market in 1995.
