Produced from typical Vidigueira grape varieties (67% Antão Vaz and 33% Arinto), it’s a wine very close to the flavors of the region. Its terroir is characteristic of Vila de Frades region- sandy loam soil based on granite.
This wine presents greater complexity, and we were able to prove how a Talha wine from younger vines can age nobly, thanks to its high phenolic composition.
The name of this wine comes from the date of the Talha where it aged for 5 months before being bottled - 1856.
Soil
Sandy loam soil based on granite.
Harvesting Method
Manual.
Fermentation / Ageing Process
The blend was made directly after harvest and fermentation is spontaneous. The wine fermented in Talha and remained until the end of December and beginning of January. It was cleaned, filtered naturally through the masses and placed in another Talha where it aged for 5 months. After bottling, the wine aged in the bottle for 4 years. No chemicals were added throughout the process, except a small amount of sulfur ate the end (on average ¼ of that allowed for organic wines).
Service and Drinking Temperature
Serve at a temperature between 9ºC e 12ºC. You can serve directly, but we recommend letting the wine breathe for around 10/20 minutes before serving.
