Harvest Year

2013 in the Alentejo saw less rainfall than in recent years, but enough to ensure proper water reserves. Due to the dry weather and the high temperatures at the end of March and during April, germination took place earlier than usual. The weather conditions, with very high temperatures during April and May, accompanied by significant rainfall, caused an early development of the vines, with flowering occurring a fortnight earlier.
The combination of all these factors made the 2011 wines fresh, intense and of a very good quality.

Winemaker: Luís Cabral de Almeida

Varieties: Antão Vaz, Arinto and Roupeiro

Winemaking: Herdade do Peso Vinha do Monte Branco 2013 was made using the most sophisticated technology starting with carefully selected grapes, picked at their optimal maturation stage, from the aromatic, alcoholic and acidic perspectives. On arrival at the winery, and after de-stemming, a soft crushing and pressing was carried out in order to extract and select a must that was clarified to the required degree of limpidity. Thereafter, alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 14ºC-16ºC, for about 15 days.

Maturation: Herdade do Peso Vinha do Monte Branco 2013 matured in stainless steel tanks for about 4 months. Blend preparation and subsequent treatments required for bottling, including fining, ultra-cooling and subsequent filtration, followed. The wine then underwent a period in bottle, under a controlled temperature of 15ºC for about three months, so as to reach the suitable balance to be drunk young.

Store: This wine will have a positive evolution in bottle for about one or two years following release. The bottle should be kept horizontally in a dry and cool place, sheltered from light.

Serve: Serve between 8ºC - 10ºC.

Enjoy: Herdade do Peso Vinha do Monte Branco 2013 is a refreshing and tasty wine, ideal on its own or as an aperitif. It is excellent with various fish dishes (cod, grilled fish, etc.), some white meats and various salads.
