Colour: Vinha do Monte Red 2013 has a fine red colour.
Aroma: On the nose this wine shows a fruity and floral bouquet, with special emphasis on plum and mulberry, and also on spices.
Palate: On the palate it is also characterised by ripe fruits and flowers. It is a very complex and fresh wine, with fine acidity and a lingering and soft finish.

Harvest Year

Winter and Spring had lots of rainfall, the opposite of the last three years, which made it possible for the replacement of humidity in the soil, important for the growing and maturity of the grapes. The high level of water in the soil caused the harvest to start later than usual, since the phenolic and aromatic maturation of the grapes only occurred at the beginning of September. The conjugation of all these factors made that, apart from being a different year, it was possible to achieve a very high quality and elegant wine.

Winemaker: Luis Cabral de Almeida

Varieties: 60% Aragonez, 10% Alfrocheiro, 10% Alicante Bouschet, 10% Syrah and 10% Trincadeira

Winemaking: After full stalk-removal and soft crushing, fermentation and maceration took place in steel vats at controlled temperatures of 25ºC, with regular pumping over for about 8 days. These techniques enhanced the fruit characteristics of this wine to produce a hugely versatile wine.

Maturation: Vinha do Monte Red 2010 was matured in stainless steel vats for about 6 months. This was followed by preparations necessary for blending as well as the treatments required for bottling. Subsequently, the wine matured in the bottle, at controlled temperatures of 15ºC for about 6 months, until ready to drink.

Store: This wine is ideal for drinking on its release and will develop further for another 2 to 3 years. The bottle should be kept horizontally in a dry and cool place, sheltered from light.

Serve: Ideally, serve between 15ºC - 17ºC.

Enjoy: Herdade do Peso Vinha do Monte Red 2013 is an excellent match for meat and smoked pork, game and poultry, pasta and cheeses.
