Quintas de Borba Grande Reserva Red

Designation: DOC Borba
Grape varieties: Alicante Bouschet, Syrah and Touriga Nacional
Soil: Chalky-clay and schist

Winemaker: Óscar Gato
Vinification: This wine comes from selected grapes in the oldest vineyards in the region of Borba. After careful monitoring of the ripening of the grapes in the vineyard, upon reaching the Cellar the grapes were destemmed and gently crushed, subjected to alcoholic fermentation in a stainless-steel mill, with mechanical step control, and left to macerate for 10 days under a controlled temperature of 22-25°C. The malolactic fermentation took place in a small stainless-steel tank. After a period of maturation of 12 months in new French, American and brown oak barrels, the wine was bottled and left to mature in a cellar for 12 months.
