Viticultural Year
The year 2020 was characterized by a cold winter and a rainy spring, causing some mildew and powdery mildew in the vineyards. The summer was hot and dry, which reduced the pressure of phytosanitary diseases.
In the second half of August there was some rain, which helped the plants to finish the maturation of the grapes. Despite some loss in production due to bunch dehydration, the 2020 wines are very concentrated wines.
Harvest
By hand to small cases of 15 kg.
Vinification
The bunches are de-stemmed and pass by a sorting table for an optimum selection of the berries. The grapes are then crushed before going to traditional shallow open marble troughs known as lagares, where they are foot trodden. Alcoholic fermentation is finished in stainless steel tanks, followed by 12 days post-fermentative maceration.
Ageing
In first and second year half oak French and Hungarian barrels, for a period of 12 months.
Tasting Notes
Intense colored wine that combines aromas of ripe fruit, truffles and vanilla. In the mouth it reveals good acidity, soft, but with firm tannins, and a long finish.
